MOGO Video : Silent Beats - A Look at Assumptions & Judgments

As humane educators we talk a lot about judgments, assumptions and first impressions. A couple of our activities (such as this one) focus on just that topic. During presentations, one of the activities our president, Zoe Weil, often does involves her asking participants their impressions and assumptions of her as she carries different bags, such as from Tiffany & Co., Victoria's Secret, and WalMart. She says,
"The judgments fly. I'm alternately told I'm rich and vain, sexy and slutty, and poor and (believe it or not) evil -- and lots in between."
One of our IHE grads (thanks, Andrea!) sent us a great little example for sparking critical thinking and discussion about the assumptions and judgments we make about others. Check out "Silent Beats" (about 5 minutes long):
