The social justice education organization, Teaching Tolerance (part of the Southern Poverty Law Center), is inviting P-12 teachers to apply for their new Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Culturally Responsive Teaching. The award "recognizes educators whose knowledge and skill makes them particularly successful at meeting the needs of students from racially, ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds."Five outstanding teachers will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., and each will receive an award of $1000.
The deadline to apply is June 1, 2011.
