The Media Literacy Project is offering teens an opportunity to flex their creative and media literacy muscles in their Bad-Ad Counter-Ad Contests. The contests, open to teens in the U.S., ages 11-18, invite the young and media savvy to either find a "bad ad" (one that promotes racist, sexist, and other offensive messages), and write an essay about it, or to choose an ad and transform it into a counter ad that "delivers a more truthful or constructive message using altered images, words, or persuasion techniques."
The deadline for both contests is January 16, 2012, and the prizes range from $50-$100.
